We Need Regulations

Good Rules, or We'll Get What We Deserve

Can you imagine a football game in which 40% of the rules governing the game were removed across the board??

It would no longer be competitive, it would no longer be a game.  It would be a brawl at best, and it wouldn't work.

All competitive fields need rules to make them function properly.  Ronald Reagan is chiefly blamed for de-regulating our economy- in those days there were in fact many seemingly crazy rules left over from the previous democratic administration.  Well, overall deregulation was a bad thing;  it may cost Ronnie his place on the new Mt. Rushmore.  (Reagan on Rushmore is a real movement, it may happen.)

Put the rules back into the economy.  Regulate the airlines, if it pushes up ticket prices, good!  An airline was never meant to be a flying bus service.  Carting your arsch across the continent at 500+ miles per hours should be expensive.  And I wish they would double the price of beer on flights, too.  I don't like to sit next to a line of guys waiting to visit the men's room.

Regulate everything.  Enforce sanity and fairness in the marketplace again, and this type of thing will be less frequent.

Open the books on the Federal Reserve and send in a bunch of bank examiners from all over the country to give it a good going-over.

The rest of us should put the regulations back into our lives, too.  Adhere to the laws of marriage, commerce, the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount, etc.

One way or another there will be rules, let's make them good ones, or we'll wind up with the police state we deserve.
